NGC 7479 is a highly asymmetrical barred spiral that belongs to the Pegasus Cloud of galaxies at a distance of 105 million light-years. It was discovered by William Herschel 1784 and is recognized also as a Seyfert galaxy undergoing starburst activity in the nucleus and the outer arms. The real diameter measures nearly 120'000 light-years, roughly 20% larger than our Milky Way.
